PAVATEX – leading supplier of sustainable insulating materials for the building envelope
The PAVATEX Group with its top company PAVATEX Holding AG is based in Cham in the canton of Zug (Switzerland). Operative business in Europe is conducted by the 100 % subsidiary company PAVATEX SA (Fribourg, Switzerland) and its national companies in Germany, France and the Benelux states. The Japanese subsidiary PAVATEX Japan K.K., is responsible for sales in Asia. The production plants are located in the Swiss towns of Cham and Fribourg.
The company has been one of the pioneers in the industry since its establishment 1936 and continually sets trends with comprehensive system solutions.
Today, PAVATEX Holding AG belongs to Chemolio Holding AG (31%), Martin Brettenthaler (28%) and BeCapital (26%). Further shares are held by Norske Skog, the Institute Lorrain des Participations and Fonds Lorrain des Matériaux as well as by the board of directors and the cadre.
PAVATEX is the leading supplier of high-quality wood fibre insulating systems for the modern building envelope. The PAVATEX wood fibre insulating systems – modern, ecological and, above all, multi-functional insulating systems for the building envelope – are manufactured today at both PAVATEX plants using a modern wet procedure.
PAVATEX wood fiber insulation systems are in demand all over the world.
The diffusion-open natural products from PAVATEX, free from bonding agents, efficiently protect from the cold in winter and the heat in summer. At the same time they possess noise protection and acoustic properties. The demand for PAVATEX wood fiber insulating materials has been on the increase for years. In 2010 the company achieved €79.7m in sales. The company has also been on a steady growth path in 2010.
PAVATEX – the focus is clearly on the building shell
There are various manufacturers for wood fiber products across Europe. PAVATEX is the only one among these suppliers who has been consistently specialising in the segment of premium wood fiber insulation systems for building shells. More than 95% of the products produced by PAVATEX are installed in the challenging applications of building shells in new buildings and reconstructions. Products made of soft wood fibers are a rapidly growing niche product in the market for insulating materials.
PAVATEX to expand production capacities
PAVATEX is investing in the future. In order to meet the large demand for soft wood fiber insulation systems, production capacities in the Cham plant was doubled by the end of 2009.
PAVATEX develops innovations
Being a market leader, we see our most important task in being able to always offer our clients state-of-the-art solutions in order to solve any insulating issue that arises in the best possible way – be it in new buildings reconstructions. Our new soft wood fiber insulation board PAVADENTRO with an integrated mineral functional layer makes the room-sided insulation of exterior walls possible, which is challenging in terms of building physics. This PAVATEX product was awarded with the innovation award “holz21” by the Swiss Federal Environmental office (BAFU). PAVACLAY, the company’s newest product, is a clay and wood fiber board for dry construction. The combination of these two natural building materials combines the extraordinary insulating properties of the wood fiber with the advantages of clay, a natural building material. These innovative products demonstrate the versatility of the natural insulating material wood. Whether it is under roof layer, over rafter and impact insulation, or thermal insulation composite system – wood fiber insulation materials meet a wide variety of requirements. With its high-performing wood fiber insulation materials, PAVATEX offers a wide range of insulation solutions which are tailored to the specific application.
PAVATEX is committed to energy efficient solutions
Climate protection impacts all of us! Heating systems create heat and provide for living comfort; at the same time, they produce large amounts of carbon dioxide. The technically optimized avoidance of energy loss is therefore one of the crucial issues to be solved by the industry. All those who, during the design of a building shell, take just energy efficiency into consideration are too short-sighted. Multifunctional buildings shells is what is called for, which, in addition to the improvement in all energy aspects also have to offer further protective functions. Any modern building shell needs to protect against both the heat in the summer as well as noise and create a comfortable and healthy climate to live in due to its diffusion-open design. Energy efficiency alone is therefore not enough – an energy effective building shell means living comfort, living health and an optimized protection of resources. The use of PAVATEX wood fiber insulating materials results in a decreased energy demand and a lower discharge of carbon dioxide while at the same time absorbing it through the use of wood as a building material. At the same time it creates an increased sense of well-being since the multifunctional PAVATEX wood fiber insulation materials ensure an energy effective building shell. The result of insulating with PAVATEX wood fiber insulation materials is therefore a high-value building shell. Last but not least this will also lead to a long-term increase in value of the entire property.
PAVATEX facilitates healthy homes to live in
These days, everybody talks about healthy living. Increased demand can be seen in many areas for sustainable ecological products which are safe to use. Wood fiber insulation systems of PAVATEX have traditionally been developed applying only the highest ecological standards and are continuously improved in order to meet the growing demand for healthy and ecological products. The wood and clay dry construction board PAVACLAY for example provides for ideal room air quality. This is made possible through the innovative combination of the tried and tested natural materials wood and clay which are responsible for the ideal properties of PAVACLAY. The handy board controls the room climate in a particularly simple and efficient way as a result of its outstanding hygroscopic and capillary properties. The system stabilizes air humidity within a pleasant range. In addition, clay and wood fiber offer an ideal capacity to act as a heat reservoir, as a result of its high specific heat storage capacity. Of special interest to all those interested in healthy living is the fact that clay purifies the air, since, similar to activated charcoal, the enormous surface leads to a high absorption. Due to the great mass and the high insulating property, PAVACLAY additionally improves noise insulation in areas exposed to high noise levels.
PAVATEX offers extensive reconstruction solutions for builders
Besides high-performance wood fiber insulating materials PAVATEX also offers a wide range of specialized insulating options for new buildings and reconstructions. Our engineers are constantly investing time and effort to develop insulation solutions for all reconstruction cases. Along with roof reconstruction, it is above all the renovation of historically protected buildings that do not permit any change to the façade, which presents a particular challenge with regard to structural physics. Any insulation of the exterior walls can only be carried out from the inside. PAVADENTRO, a soft wood fiber board with an integrated mineral functional layer which applies the principles of Goretex® to house construction, was developed especially for such cases.
